The 12th SJTU-TUB Joint Forum was Held in SEIEE

On 30-31 March 2017, the 12th SJTU-TUB Joint Forum was held at the SEIEE buildings of SJTU Minhang campus. Vice President of SJTU Zhen Huang, Dean of SEIEE Junfa Mao, together with other leaders, welcomed the guests and expressed their desire for both sides to further their cooperation on scientific research, talent training, student-exchange, summer courses, and many more.

The forum is alternately held in Berlin and Shanghai every two years. This year's main agenda focused on Power Electronics, Micro-Electronics, Rehabilitation Engineering and related topics. Scholars from both sides delivered presentations on their latest research achievements, and exchanged ideas on other significant issues including research collaborations and students joint-supervision.

The topic on Rehabilitation Engineering was discussed between Dr. Thomas Schauer and Prof. Xie Le from SJTU Med-X Research Institute, while Power Electronics was between Prof. Sibylle Diecerhoff and Dr. Ma Ke from the Department of Electrical Engineering ; RF Micro-Electronic Devices Design between Prof. Friedel Gerfers and Prof. Zhou Jianjun; Micro-Electronic Biosensor between Prof. Roland Thewes and Associate Prof. Wang Guoxing. SEIEE Graduate students and international students attended the forum and actively asked questions that made the forum fruitful.

On the second day of the forum, TUB professors visited the Center of Advanced Electronic Materials and Devices, the Key Lab of Intelligent Computing and System, State Energy Smart Grid R&D Center (Shanghai), and the Lab of Biology Micro-Electronics. The guests spoke highly of SJTU’s labs and research equipment. Professors from both sides appreciated the mutual friendship that fully allowed two universities to share their scientific research advantages and together pursue outstanding research results in service of the society.

TUB is the largest polytechnic university in Germany, which has cultivated ten Nobel Prize winners and one Pulitzer Prize winner. The partnership between SJTU and TUB has a history of more than 30 years. The Double-Master Degree Program, with the cooperation of SEIEE, has been successfully run for 11 years, which effectively promotes the culture exchange and international talent cultivation. Students from both universities all express gratitude to their two-year exchange study, as it provides life-long benefits for them.

With the expectation for more cooperative results achieved by SJTU and TUB professors, let us look forward to the next joint forum.
