SJTU consultant professor wins Shanghai International Science and Technology Cooperation Award

On the morning of May 18, 2015, the Shanghai Science and Technology Awards Conference was held at the Shanghai Exhibition Center where 287 people won the awards. Consultant Professor Mohamad Sawan from Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU) won the top prize for International Cooperation of Science and Technology along with 2 other foreign experts. The Secretary of the Municipal Party Committee, Han Zheng, and Mayor Yang Xiong presented the awards.

 

 

After the ceremony, Vice President Huang Zhen of SJTU, with the company of the department chairman and vice chairman of SEIEE, met with Professor Mohamad Sawan. He congratulated the professor and expressed appreciated for the discipline construction, personnel training and international communication Mohamad Sawan has given to the university.

 

 

Mohamad Sawan is a Canadian born in Lebanon. He is an academician and a fellow of the Canadian Academy of Engineering and Canadian Engineering Institute, (IEEE Fellow école Polytechnique de Montréal), a Canadian chief researcher, ReSMiQ and Consultant Professor of Shanghai Jiao Tong University.

 

Professor Sawan has been cooperating with SJTU for the past 9 years. As an internationally renowned scholar in the field of Bio Medical Electronics, he has shared his valuable experience with the school, helped with the constructions for Bio Medical Electronic of the Institute of Micro- Nano Electronics, built two laboratories, recommended Chinese experts as editors, opened a course for graduate students, undertook international projects providing equipment and technology to support the development of projects, and has also shown dedication to the international communication of SJTU with Canada. He helped coordinate with leaders from école Polytechnique de Montréal to visit SJTU and played an important role in establishing the relationship between two schools.
